NK cells own multiple activating and inhibitory receptors to recognize and discriminate dangerous cells and healthy cells. The balance between activating and inhibitory signals determines the activation of NK cells. NK cells possess the ability to kill a broad range of tumors by recognize stress-induced ligands via a variety of activating and/or inhibitory receptors and mediate cytolytic approaches including the antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) via FcγRIII (CD16).
